Norway Manufacturing Output Edges Lower

Norway’s manufacturing production decreased 0.1% month-over-month in December 2025, following a downwardly revised 2% gain in the previous month.

Declines were mainly observed in the production of food, beverage and tobacco (-0.7% vs 0.8% in November), fabricated metal products (-0.9% vs 2.4%), computer and electrical equipment (-0.3% vs 3.6%), and machinery and equipment (-0.8% vs 1.1%).

At the same time, growth moderated in refined petroleum, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals (1.3% vs 5.6%) and ships, boats and oil platforms (2.4% vs 4.9%).

Meanwhile, output in repair and installation of machinery was unchanged, following a 0.2% fall in November.

On a yearly basis, manufacturing output rose 1.2% in December, slowing from a 4.4% growth in November.

Norway Manufacturing Output Rises in November
Norway’s manufacturing production rose 2.4% month-over-month in November 2025, after an upwardly revised 1.3% decline in the previous month. This was the largest monthly increase since April, largely driven by a rebound in output for refined petroleum, chemical, and pharmaceutical (4.6% vs -6.6% in October) and ships, boats, and oil platforms (4.6% vs -3.9%). Increases were also observed in the production of food, beverage, and tobacco (0.9% vs 0%), fabricated metal products (2.4% vs 0.1%), computer and electrical equipment (2.8% vs 1%), and machinery and equipment (1.4% vs 0.4%). Meanwhile, repair and installation of machinery fell 0.2%, reversing a 2.2% gain in the prior month. On a yearly basis, manufacturing output grew 4.4% in November, following an upwardly revised 2.4% rise in October.

Norway Manufacturing Output Falls at Softer Pace
Norway’s manufacturing production decreased 0.9% month-over-month in October 2025, following a downwardly revised 1.4% drop in the previous month. Smaller declines were observed in output for textiles, wearing apparel, leather (-1.4% vs -2% in September), fabricated metal products (-0.1% vs -2.6%), transport equipment (-0.2% vs -5.5%), and furniture and manufacturing n.e.c. (-0.4% vs -1.4%). Additionally, production rebounded for food, beverages, and tobacco (0.1% vs -1.2%) and repair and installation of machinery (2.2% vs -1%). On a yearly basis, manufacturing output rose by 2.3% in October, after an upwardly revised 2.9% gain in September.
