Norway Consumer Pessimism Eases in Q3

Norway’s adjusted consumer confidence indicator improved to -16.6 in Q3 2026, up from a downwardly revised -18.1 in Q2.
The improvement came alongside less pessimistic views of the country’s economic outlook, with expectations for the national economy over the next year improving to -24.6 from -34.9 in Q2 and assessments of its performance over the past year rising to -37.1 from -47.1.
Households were also more optimistic about their own finances, with expectations for personal finances over the next year turning slightly positive at 0.8 from -3.5, while assessments of their financial situation over the past year improved to -2.6 from -9.4.
Sentiment toward major purchases also strengthened to -8.7 from -15.8, while households said they would prioritize repaying loans or saving and investing if their financial situation improved, with both responses reaching record highs since the survey began in 1992.
Meanwhile, the unadjusted indicator rose to -14.4 from -22.1.
