Montenegro Inflation Rate Ticks Lower

The annual inflation rate in Montenegro ticked down to 4.8% in October 2025 from a sixteen-month high of 4.9% in the previous month.

Prices moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (6% vs 6.6% in September), furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (4.3% vs 5.1%), health (13.1% vs 13.4%), and recreation and culture (7.2% vs 7.7%).

Moreover, prices were stable for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.1%) and education (0%).

On the other hand, costs increased at a faster pace for transport (2.5% vs 1.8%), housing and utilities (7.4% vs 7.3%), restaurants and hotels (6.4% vs 6.2%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.5% vs 3.4%).

Additionally, deflation softened for clothing and footwear (-4.1% vs -4.7%).

On a monthly basis, prices fell 0.2%, slipping further from a 0.1% drop in September.

Meanwhile, the annual harmonized inflation rate edged down to 4.6% from 4.7% in the previous month, marking its lowest reading since June.

In addition, deflation softened for clothing and footwear (-2.2% vs -2.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.3% in December, slightly slowing from a 0.4% decrease in the previous month. Meanwhile, the annual harmonized inflation rate ticked lower to 3.7%, from 3.9% in November.
