The annual inflation rate in Moldova stood at 6.8% in May 2026, unchanged from the previous month, and remained the highest level since December 2025.
Prices of non-food products accelerated (7.2% vs 7.1% in April), driven by strong increases in fuels and motor fuels, footwear, carpets and other floor coverings, and medicines.
At the same time, price growth in services edged up (7.5% vs 6.9%), supported by increases in passenger transport specifically in urban and air, regulated tariffs for electricity supply, rent, education and public catering services.
Meanwhile, inflation for food products eased to 5.7% from 6.3% in the previous month, due to notable decreases in vegetables, fresh fruits, eggs, although costs for fish and canned fish, dairy products, and alcoholic beverages continued to rise.
