Industrial production in Malaysia grew by 1.5% year-on-year in February 2025, slowing from a 2.1% gain in the previous month.
This marked the weakest expansion in industrial activity since the decline in December 2023, as output decreased at a faster pace for mining and quarrying (-8.9% vs -3.1% in January) and electricity (-2.8% vs -0.2%).
Meanwhile, output accelerated for manufacturing (4.8% vs 3.7%), mainly due to higher output in manufacture of computers, electronic, and optical products (8.4%), manufacture of vegetable and animal oils and fats (17.7%) and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (5.7%).
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.3% in February 2025, reversing a 0.2% gain in the previous month.
