Macau Tourist Arrivals Drop 3.1% in June

The number of tourist arrivals in Macau fell 3.1% year-on-year to 2.801 million in June 2026, reversing a 3.4% increase in the previous month.

This marked the first contraction since February 2025, as overnight visitors dropped 9.0% to 1.164 million, while same-day visitors increased 1.6% to 1.637 million.

Additionally, the average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day from a year earlier to 1.1 days, while the average stay of overnight visitors remained unchanged at 2.4 days.

By source market, arrivals from China declined 2.3% year-on-year to 1.950 million, although visitors traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme rose 2.6% to 1.054 million.

Arrivals from Hong Kong (577,275) and the Philippines (36,686) also fell by 5.9% and 22.0%, respectively.

In contrast, visitor arrivals from Taiwan (95,277), Thailand (13,228), and India (12,735) increased by 12.0%, 27.5%, and 6.9%, respectively.

In the first half of 2026, total visitor arrivals rose 9.0% year-on-year to 20.944 million.

Macau Visitor Arrivals Rebound to 5-Month High
The number of tourist arrivals in Macau rose by 2.4% year-on-year to 3.542 million in July 2026, rebounding sharply from a 3.1% decline in the previous month. This marked the highest number of arrivals in five months, as same-day visitors increased 6.4% to 2.108 million, while overnight visitors fell 2.9% to 1.434 million. Additionally, the average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day from a year earlier to 1.1 days, while the average stay of overnight visitors remained unchanged at 2.4 days. By source market, arrivals from China increased by 5.4% to 2.701 million, with visitors traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme rising 9.6% to 1.494 million. Arrivals from Taiwan (104,833) and India (10,261) also increased by 13.9% and 66.4%, respectively. In contrast, visitor arrivals from Hong Kong (561,713), the Philippines (32,865), and Indonesia (11,530) declined by 10.2%, 13.3%, and 22.5%, respectively. In the January–July period, total visitor arrivals rose by 8.0% to 24.487 million.

Macau Tourist Arrivals Continue to Rise
The number of tourist arrivals in Macau rose 3.4% year-on-year to 3,488 million in May 2026 from an 11.3% jump in the previous month. Same-day visitors increased by 7.9%, while overnight visitors dropped by 3%. Additionally, the average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day from a year earlier to 1 day and the average stay of overnight visitors remained unchanged at 2.3 days. By source market, visitors from China grew by 4.2% year-on-year to 2.54 million in May, with arrivals under the Individual Visit Scheme rising 5.2% to 1.38 million. Visitors from Taiwan (93,701) and Thailand (20,447) increased by 18.9% and 36.1%, respectively. On the other hand, arrivals from Hong Kong (-0.4% to 618,341), the Philippines (-11.5% to 50,462), and South Korea (-14.6% to 35,663) posted declines. In the first five months of 2026, total visitor arrivals increased by 11.1% year-on-year to 18.14 million.
