Macau Tourist Arrivals Climb to Record High

The number of tourist arrivals in Macau rose by 6.1% year-on-year to 4.478 million in August 2026, following a 2.4% gain in the previous month.
This marked the highest number of arrivals on record, as same-day visitors jumped by 11.7% to 2.853 million, while overnight visitors fell by 2.4% to 1.625 million.
In addition, the average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day from a year earlier to 1.0 day, while the average stay of overnight visitors remained unchanged at 2.3 days.
By source market, arrivals from China increased by 9.3% to 3.562 million, with visitors traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme rising by 12.7% to 2.020 million.
Arrivals from Taiwan (101,282) and Malaysia (8,161) also increased by 13.7% and 2.1%, respectively.
In contrast, visitor arrivals from Hong Kong (643,445), the Philippines (31,282), and Indonesia (11,106) declined by 5.6%, 18.5%, and 16.9%, respectively.
In the January–August period, total visitor arrivals rose by 7.7% to 28.964 million.
