Macau Tourist Arrivals Up 15.5% in January

The number of tourist arrivals in Macau rose 15.5% year-on-year to 3.647 million in January 2026, easing from a 17.8% increase in December.

Same day visitors grew 4.6% year-on-year, while overnight visitors declined 6.6%.

Meanwhile, the average length of stay remained at 1 day, with overnight visitors’ stays increasing by 0.1 day to 2.3 days.

By source market, arrivals from China fell 1.6% year-on-year to 2.705 million, with those traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme down 9.6% to 1.452 million, mainly due to a higher comparison base as last year’s Lunar New Year holidays fell in late January.

Arrivals from Hong Kong declined 1.3%, while Taiwan rose 20.7%.

In addition, visitors from Malaysia (52.3%), Thailand (80.5%), and Singapore (28.6%) surged, whereas arrivals from the Philippines (-6.3%) and Indonesia (-21.8%) declined.

Macau Tourist Arrivals Rise 17.8% in December
The number of tourist arrivals in Macau rose by 17.8% year-on-year to 3.580 million in December 2025, easing from an 18.1% increase in the previous month. Same-day visitors climbed 23%, while overnight visitors jumped by 10.9%. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors held steady from a year earlier at 1.1 days, with the duration of stay for overnight visitors decreasing to 2.1 days. By source market, arrivals from Mainland China grew by 22.6% to 2.51 million, with those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme rising by 32.7%. In addition, visitors from Taiwan increased by 22.4% to 86.3 thousand, while those from Hong Kong grew by 3.1% to 652.1 thousand. In 2025, international visitors increased by 13.7% to 2.755 million. For the January-December period, total visitors went up by 14.7% to 40.1 million.

Macau Tourist Arrivals Continue to Rise
The number of tourist arrivals in Macau increased by 18.1% year-on-year to 3.345 million in November 2025, following a 10.8% rise in the previous month. Same-day visitors climbed by 31.5%, while overnight visitors rose by 2.1%. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.2 day year-on-year to 1.0 day. Visitors from the Chinese mainland increased by 21.9% to 2.397 million, with those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme up by 36.1% to 1.262 million. Visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan went up by 5.4% and 27.1%, respectively. In addition, increases were seen in the number of visitor arrivals from the Philippines (2.3%), Indonesia (23.1%) and Thailand (49.4%). In the first eleven months of 2025, the number of visitor arrivals rose by 14.4%.
