Macau Tourist Arrivals Up 10.6% in March

The number of tourist arrivals in Macau rose 3.4% year-on-year to 3,488 million in May 2026 from an 11.3% jump in the previous month. Same-day visitors increased by 7.9%, while overnight visitors dropped by 3%. Additionally, the average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day from a year earlier to 1 day and the average stay of overnight visitors remained unchanged at 2.3 days. By source market, visitors from China grew by 4.2% year-on-year to 2.54 million in May, with arrivals under the Individual Visit Scheme rising 5.2% to 1.38 million. Visitors from Taiwan (93,701) and Thailand (20,447) increased by 18.9% and 36.1%, respectively. On the other hand, arrivals from Hong Kong (-0.4% to 618,341), the Philippines (-11.5% to 50,462), and South Korea (-14.6% to 35,663) posted declines. In the first five months of 2026, total visitor arrivals increased by 11.1% year-on-year to 18.14 million.

The number of tourist arrivals in Macau rose 11.3% year-on-year to 3,441.4 million in April 2026 from a 10.6% jump in the previous month.Same-day visitors and overnight visitors increased by 19.4% and 0.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day from a year earlier to 1 day, while the average stay of overnight visitors remained unchanged at 2.3 days. By source market, visitors from China climbed 13.1% year-on-year to 2.41 million in April, with arrivals under the Individual Visit Scheme rising 16.1% to 1.24 million. Visitors from Hong Kong (680,521) and Taiwan (101,453) increased by 3.1% and 32.2%, respectively. Arrivals from the Philippines (+19.6% to 51,544), Thailand (+41.8% to 29,008), and the United States (+13.9% to 15,299) also grew, while visitors from India (-16.1% to 10,480) and Indonesia (-26.8% to 19,656) declined. In the first four months of 2026, total visitor arrivals increased 13.1% year-on-year to 14.66 million.

Same-day visitors and overnight visitors increased by 16.6% and 2.2%, respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1 day, with that of overnight visitors remaining unchanged at 2.3 days. By source market, visitors from China jumping by 10.6% to 2,392,526 in March, with those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme advanced 17.9% to 1,265,730. Visitors from Hong Kong (621,973) and Taiwan (102,682) increased by 4.5% and 35.1%, respectively. Philippine (+4.9%, 41,129), Indian (+30.6%, 10,959), and US (+11.3%, 15,250) visitors grew, while Japan (-1.1%, 17,982) and Singapore (-2.3%, 11,449) posted declines. In the first quarter of 2026, the number of visitor arrivals advanced 13.7% to 11,213,904.
