Macau Inflation Hits Fastest Rate Since August 2024

The annual inflation rate in Macau rose to 0.72% in November 2025, marking the fastest pace since August 2024 and up from 0.6% in October.

This is the fourth consecutive month of acceleration, driven by faster growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.25% vs 0.70%), recreation, sport, and culture (3.08% vs 2.35%), household furnishings and services (0.58% vs 0.52%), and miscellaneous goods and services (1.97% vs 1.92%), while declines eased in information and communication (-2.31% vs -2.57%).

Conversely, growth slowed in transport (0.46% vs 0.59%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.69% vs 2.48%), and housing & fuels (0.17% vs 0.33%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.11% in November, following a 0.03% increase in October.

Macau Inflation Eases Slightly
The annual inflation rate in Macau edged down to 0.69% in December 2025 from November’s fifteen-month high of 0.72%. Price growth slowed for recreation, sport, and culture (1.89% vs 3.08% in November), miscellaneous goods and services (1.84 % vs 1.97%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.80% vs 1.69%), household furnishings and services (0.52% vs 0.58%), and education (1.52% vs 1.61%). On the other hand, inflation picked up for transport (0.56% vs 0.46%), while remained relatively steady for food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.27% vs 1.25%) and housing and fuels (at 0.17%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced 0.17% in December, the highest increase since January, following a 0.11% rise in the previous month. In 2025, the inflation rate was 0.33%.

Macau Inflation Rises to 14-Month High
The annual inflation rate in Macau rose to 0.60% in October 2025, the highest since August 2024, accelerating from 0.47% in the previous month. Price growth accelerated in food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.70% vs 0.56% in September), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.48% vs 0.89%), household furnishings and services (0.52% vs 0.23%), health (0.69% vs 0.63%), transport (0.59% vs 0.44%), and miscellaneous goods and services (1.92% vs 1.14%). At the same time, prices declined at a softer pace in clothing and footwear (-1.07% vs -1.43%) and information and communication (-2.57% vs -2.94%). Conversely, growth slowed in housing & fuels (0.33% vs 0.37%) and recreation, sport, and culture (2.35% vs 2.81%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.03% in October, following a 0.1% rise in September.
