Luxembourg GDP contracts 1.0% in Q1

Luxembourg’s economy contracted by 1.0% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of 2025, marking a sharp reversal from a downwardly revised 1.3% expansion in the previous quarter.
The contraction was primarily driven by declines in household consumption (-0.4% vs 0.4%) and exports (-0.4% vs 1.7%), alongside a sharp deceleration in import growth (0.1% vs 1.7%).
In contrast, government spending accelerated (1.2% vs 0.9%).
On an annual basis, GDP declined by 0.4% in Q1 2025, reversing a 1.9% expansion in the prior quarter.
