Luxembourg’s trade deficit widened to EUR 0.87 billion in August 2025 from EUR 0.59 billion in the same month a year earlier, as imports outpaced exports.
Imports climbed by 17.7% year-on-year to EUR 1.93 billion, mainly driven by sharply higher purchases of transport equipment (29.7%), crude materials, inedible, oils, fats and waxes (27.3%), and mineral fuels and lubricants (27%).
Meanwhile, exports rose at a softer 1% to EUR 1.06 billion, supported by increased shipments of crude materials, inedible, oils, fats and waxes (19%) and beverages and tobacco (13.6%).
