Lithuania Retail Sales Rise in March

Retail sales in Lithuania rose by 5.7% year-on-year in March 2026 from an upwardly revised 2.9% in the previous month.

Growth rebounded in food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.9% vs -0.3% in February), while retail trade excluding automotive fuel continued to expand (5.5% vs 2.3%), alongside mail order and internet sales (21.2% vs 20.8%), automotive fuel (6.5% vs 5.4%), and non-food products (8.1% vs 4.3%).

Within specialised non-food stores, sales also improved in audio, video, hardware, furniture and lighting (2.8% vs -8.3%), information and communication equipment, cultural and recreational goods, watches and jewellery, and other new goods (0.2% vs -0.7%), textiles, clothing and footwear (1.9% vs 0.5%), as well as pharmaceuticals, medical goods and cosmetics (9.4% vs 6.7%).

On a monthly basis, retail activity rose 2.3% in March, rebounding from a revised 2% decline in February.

Lithuania Retail Sales Growth Slows in February
Retail sales in Lithuania rose by 2.6% year-on-year in February 2026, easing from the 9.3% increase recorded in January, which was the strongest growth since February 2022. Sales growth moderated across most categories, including automotive fuels (5.4% vs 19.3%), retail trade excluding motor vehicles, motorcycles and fuel (1.9% vs 7%), food, beverages and tobacco (0.5% vs 2.8%), non-food products (3% vs 10.2%), and mail order and internet sales (16.4% vs 24.2%). At the same time, sales of audio, video, hardware, furniture, and lighting in specialised stores fell (-8.7% vs 1.4%), while the decline eased for information and communication equipment, cultural and recreational goods, watches and jewellery, and other new goods (-1.1% vs -1.8%). In contrast, sales in non-specialised stores rose sharply (18.1% vs 1.7%). On a monthly basis, retail activity fell by 2.5% in February, reversing a 0.5% increase in the previous month.

Lithuania Retail Sales Rise the Most Since 2022
Retail sales in Lithuania advanced 9.3% year-on-year in January 2026, following a 2.4% rise in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since February 2022, as activity rose in food, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco (2.8% vs 1.9%), non-food products (10.2% vs 7.2%), and pharmaceutical, medical goods, and cosmetics (10.6% vs 7.1%). At the same time, trade rebounded sharply in sales of automotive fuel (19.3% vs -7.7%). On the other hand, sales growth slowed in audio, video, hardware, furniture, and lighting in specialized stores (1.4% vs 1.6%), while it contracted further in sales of information and communication equipment, cultural and recreation goods, watches and jewellery, and other new goods in specialized stores (-1.7% vs 1.4%). On a monthly basis, retail sales rose by 0.5% in January from 0.4% in the preceding period.
