Lithuania Retail Sales Rise in March

Retail sales in Lithuania rose by 5.7% year-on-year in March 2026 from an upwardly revised 2.9% in the previous month.

Growth rebounded in food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.9% vs -0.3% in February), while retail trade excluding automotive fuel continued to expand (5.5% vs 2.3%), alongside mail order and internet sales (21.2% vs 20.8%), automotive fuel (6.5% vs 5.4%), and non-food products (8.1% vs 4.3%).

Within specialised non-food stores, sales also improved in audio, video, hardware, furniture and lighting (2.8% vs -8.3%), information and communication equipment, cultural and recreational goods, watches and jewellery, and other new goods (0.2% vs -0.7%), textiles, clothing and footwear (1.9% vs 0.5%), as well as pharmaceuticals, medical goods and cosmetics (9.4% vs 6.7%).

On a monthly basis, retail activity rose 2.3% in March, rebounding from a revised 2% decline in February.

Lithuania Retail Sales Growth at 3-Month High
Retail sales in Lithuania rose 8.9% year-on-year in April 2026 from an upwardly revised 6.7% in the previous month and marking the strongest growth since January. Sales growth accelerated in retail trade excluding automotive fuel (11.4% vs. 6.8% in March), non-food products (18.8% vs. 10.1%), mail-order and internet sales (34.6% vs. 21.1%), and non-specialized stores (25.2% vs. 18.3%). In specialized stores, retail activity also expanded for textiles, clothing, and footwear (7.6% vs. 6.1%), audio, video, hardware, furniture, and lighting (21.1% vs. 7.1%), information and communication goods (7.2% vs. 2.4%), and pharmaceuticals, medical goods, and cosmetics (13.1% vs. 9.0%). In contrast, sales growth slowed for food, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco (1.5% vs. 2.2%), while automotive fuel sales declined (-0.9% vs. 6.6%). On a monthly basis, retail activity eased 1.8% in April from an upwardly revised 3.7% in the previous period.

Lithuania Retail Sales Growth Slows in February
Retail sales in Lithuania rose by 2.6% year-on-year in February 2026, easing from the 9.3% increase recorded in January, which was the strongest growth since February 2022. Sales growth moderated across most categories, including automotive fuels (5.4% vs 19.3%), retail trade excluding motor vehicles, motorcycles and fuel (1.9% vs 7%), food, beverages and tobacco (0.5% vs 2.8%), non-food products (3% vs 10.2%), and mail order and internet sales (16.4% vs 24.2%). At the same time, sales of audio, video, hardware, furniture, and lighting in specialised stores fell (-8.7% vs 1.4%), while the decline eased for information and communication equipment, cultural and recreational goods, watches and jewellery, and other new goods (-1.1% vs -1.8%). In contrast, sales in non-specialised stores rose sharply (18.1% vs 1.7%). On a monthly basis, retail activity fell by 2.5% in February, reversing a 0.5% increase in the previous month.
