Lithuania Inflation Rate Hits 3-Year High

Lithuania’s annual inflation rate rose to 6.1% year-on-year in August 2026 from 5.9% in the previous month, marking the highest reading since August 2023.
The increase was driven by faster price growth for transport (15% vs 12.5% in July) and housing and utilities (15.8% vs 15.1%).
Costs also increased for recreation, sport, and culture (6.2% vs 5.2%), personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (6.9% vs 5.7%), furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (2.8% vs 2.4%), restaurants and hotels (5.9% vs 5.5%), and information and communication (2.1% vs 1.6%).
Meanwhile, inflation eased for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.1% vs 7.6%), clothing and footwear (0.8% vs 1.8%), and education (5.2% vs 5.3%), while it held steady for health (4.9%).
Deflation also persisted in food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2.0% vs -0.3%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.1% in August, reversing a 0.2% increase in the previous month.
