Indonesia Retail Sales Rise the Most in 3 Months

Indonesia’s retail sales grew 4.3% year-on-year in October 2025, accelerating from a 3.7% rise in the previous month and marking the sixth consecutive month of increase.
It was also the strongest growth since July, supported by government efforts to maintain purchasing power, with sales of food, beverages, and tobacco (6.4% vs 5.4% in September) and cultural and recreational goods (6.7% vs 2.6%) both rising at the fastest pace in seven months.
Meanwhile, sales of automotive parts and accessories moderated (12.0% vs 12.4%).
In contrast, sales declined for fuel (-1.0% vs 10.6%), household appliances (-2.3% vs -2.6%), information and communication equipment (-28.3% vs -27.6%), and clothing (-5.8% vs -7.1%).
On a monthly basis, retail activity rose 0.6%, rebounding from a 2.4% decrease in September.
