Motorbike sales in Indonesia grew 3% year-on-year to 406,691 units in April 2025, recovering sharply from a 7.2% decline in the previous month, as activity returned to normal after the Eid al-Fitr celebration.

On a monthly basis, motorbike sales plunged by 24.9% in April, following a 6.8% drop in March, amid weak purchasing power due to layoffs at some companies and the imposition of additional motorbike taxes, which took effect in 2025.

Last year, sales increased by 1.5%, reaching 6.3 million units—within the forecast range provided by the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI) of 6.2 to 6.5 million units.

In 2025, AISI expects motorbike sales to reach a target range of 6.4–6.7 million units, before the government implements another motorbike tax.

AISI will recalculate its 2025 sales forecast due to the impact of the tax policy and to assess economic conditions.
