Estonia Retail Sales Unchanged in December

Retail sales in Estonia fell by 0.4% year-on-year in December 2025, the same pace as the previous month.

This marked the second consecutive month of decline in retail activity and the lowest reading since August as sales growth moderated for automotive fuel (10.2% vs 13% in November), while trade dropped sharply for textiles, clothing, and footwear (-2.4% vs 0.5%) and second-hand goods in stores, retail sales in kiosks and markets, other retail sales not in stores, kiosks or markets (-6.1% vs 10.3%).

On the other hand, activity fell at a softer pace in food, beverages, or tobacco predominating (-4.3% vs -4.7%), other non-specialized stores (-3.8% vs -8.3%), household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials (-4.9% vs -6.4%), mail-order and internet (-4% vs -9.7%).

On a monthly basis, retail sales climbed 13.2% in December, rebounding sharply from a ten-month low of a 4.8% fall in the preceding period.

Retail sales in Estonia fell by 0.4% year-on-year in November 2025, reversing a four-month high of 4.0% in the previous month. Among stores selling manufactured goods, the sharpest drop was recorded in mail-order and internet sales (-9.7% vs -4.8% in October). Turnover volume also continued to decline in other non-specialised stores (-8.3% vs -6.2%) and non-specialised stores with food, beverages or tobacco predominating (-4.7% vs -2.4%), and stores selling household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials (-6.4% vs -6.1%). Sales growth also slowed for automotive fuel (13.0% vs 24.9%) and computers, peripheral units and software, telecommunications equipment, etc. (8.0% vs 20.7%). In contrast, sales accelerated for second-hand goods in stores, retail sales in kiosks and markets, other retail sales not in stores, kiosks and markets (10.3% vs 4.3%). On a monthly basis, retail activity dropped by 4.8% to a ten-month low, following a 5.9% rise in October.

Estonia Retail Sales Growth at 4-Month High
Retail sales in Estonia advanced by 4% year-on-year in October 2025, accelerating from a 3.7% rise in the previous month. This marked the highest month of growth in retail activity since June, as sales increased faster for automotive fuel in specialized stores (24.9% vs 21.8% in September) and textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods (7.7% vs 0.8%). Turnover volume also fell at a softer pace for food, beverages or tobacco predominating (-2.4% vs -4.2%) and sales via mail order houses or via the internet (-4.8% vs -6.4%). Conversely, sales growth slowed for medical & orthopedic goods, cosmetic & toilet articles (1.5% vs 5%), computers, peripheral units and software; telecommunications equipment, etc. (20.7% vs 28.5%), and second-hand goods in stores, retail sale via stalls and markets, other retail sale not in stores, stalls or markets (4.3% vs 8.1%). On a monthly basis, retail activity rose by 5.9% in October, following a flat reading in the preceding period.
