Estonia Producer Inflation Edges Down in March

Estonian producer prices rose by 1.8% year-on-year in April 2026, picking up from 0.7% in the previous month. Costs increased at a faster pace in the manufacturing sector (3.0% vs 2.3% in March), supported by sharply higher prices in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum (45.8% vs 31.2%), wearing apparel (4.9% vs 2.8%), leather and related products (3.2% vs 2.1%), wood and wood products (4.4% vs 4.3%), paper and paper products (2.9% vs 0.3%), basic pharmaceutical products and preparations (8.0% vs 5.9%), electrical equipment (2.6% vs 1.9%), and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (2.6% vs 0.9%). Additionally, deflation in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply eased (-14.7% vs -20.1%), while prices remained steady in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (4.1%). In contrast, price growth slowed in mining and quarrying (4.3% vs 7.7%). On a monthly basis, producer prices were unchanged after a 3.6% decline in March.

Estonia’s producer prices rose by 0.7% year-on-year in March 2026, edging lower from 0.8% in the previous month. Prices in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning slumped by 20.1%, reversing a 1.8% gain in February. Meanwhile, costs continued to rise in mining and quarrying (7.7% vs 1.4% in February), while manufacturing inflation picked up to 2.3% from a flat reading, driven mainly by higher prices in beverages, wearing apparel, wood and wood products, paper and paper products, coke and refined petroleum products, basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, and machinery and equipment n.e.c. Inflation in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities remained steady at 4.1%, unchanged from February. On a monthly basis, producer prices declined by 3.6%, following a 0.1% drop in the previous month.

Estonia’s producer prices rose by 0.8% year-on-year in February 2026, easing from an eleven-month high of 4.3% in the previous month. Producer inflation slowed in mining and quarrying (1.4% vs 1.6% in January) and in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning (1.8% vs 44.3%). Costs in the manufacturing sector were unchanged (0.0% vs 0.4%), mainly due to softer price increases in wearing apparel, wood and wood products, chemicals and chemical products, and machinery and equipment n.e.c., which offset gains in beverages, leather and related products, basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, electrical equipment, and furniture. Meanwhile, inflation in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities accelerated (4.1% vs 1.8%). On a monthly basis, producer prices declined by 0.1%, following a 5.7% increase in January.
