Estonia Inflation Rate at 4-Month High

The annual inflation rate in Estonia rose to 3.7% in May 2026 from 3.4% in the previous month.

This marked the highest reading since January, as prices increased faster for housing (5.4% vs 3.7% in April), transport (10.4% vs 9.2%), recreation and culture (4.2% vs 1.5%), information and communication (1.7% vs 1.0%), and restaurants and accommodation services (3.2% vs 3.1%).

At the same time, deflation eased in clothing and footwear (-3.9% vs -4.3%) and insurance and financial services (-11.1% vs -11.8%).

In contrast, inflation moderated in food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.9% vs 2.6%), alcohol and tobacco (8.1% vs 8.3%), household goods (1.5% vs 1.9%), miscellaneous goods and services (4.1% vs 4.7%), health (2.7% vs 2.8%), and education (5.3% vs 5.4%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices eased to 0.4% in May, following a 0.8% gain in April.

Estonia March Inflation Rises to 3.1%
The annual inflation rate in Estonia slowed to 3.4% in April 2026 from 3.6% in the previous month. This marks a 2-month low since February 2026 mainly driven by declines in costs for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.6% vs 4.2% in March) and healthcare (2.8% vs 11.7%), catering and accommodation (3.1% vs 4.0%). On the other hand, prices increased at a faster pace for transportation (9.2% vs 7%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.3% vs 7.7%), housing (3.7% vs 2.0%), and education and childcare facilities (5.4% vs 0.9%), while clothing and footwear costs declined less (-4.3% vs -5.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.8% in March, following a 0.0% rate in the preceding period.

Estonia March Inflation Rises to 3.6%
The annual inflation rate in Estonia rose to 3.6% in March 2026 from a seventeen-month low of 3.1% in the previous month. The uptick was driven mainly by transport costs, which swung sharply higher to 7% after a 0.4% decline in February, reflecting rising diesel and petrol prices, while prices for healthcare (11.7% vs 12%) remained elevated following the adjustment of the health insurance fund price lists that took place in April of last year. Inflation also continued to increase for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.2% vs 5.5%), alcohol and tobacco (7.7% vs 7.9%), and miscellaneous goods and services (4.8% vs 4.4%). On the other hand, costs declined for clothing and footwear (-5.6% vs -5.7%) and insurance and financial services (-11.7% vs -13.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices stagnated in March, following a 0.8% gain in the preceding period.
