Estonia Industrial Output Weakens Further in June

Industrial production in Estonia fell 4.6% year-on-year in June 2026, marking a fifth consecutive month of contraction and the steepest decline since March 2024, with the pace of the downturn deepening from a 3.0% fall in May.

The weakness was driven by a sharper fall in manufacturing (-5.3% vs. -3.5%), alongside continued declines in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-12.6% vs. -22.9%).

Within manufacturing, notable declines were recorded in repair and installation of machinery and equipment (-44.1%), computers, electronic and optical products (-13.2%), furniture (-19.5%), other transport equipment (-14.2%), and fish processing (-19.8%).

In contrast, mining and quarrying remained a bright spot, expanding 26.7%, although growth slowed from 39.9% in May.

On a monthly basis, industrial output declined 2.3%, following a revised 0.3% fall in May.

Output in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply remained a major drag (-22.9% vs. -14.9% in April). Manufacturing output also weakened further (-3.5% vs. -3.2%), weighed down by repair and installation of machinery and equipment (-40.5%), coke and refined petroleum products (-38.7%), computers and peripheral equipment (-75.0%), and grain mill products, starches and starch products (-13.9%). In contrast, mining and quarrying surged 39.9%, accelerating from 15.7% in April. On a monthly basis, industrial activity slipped by 0.2%, reversing an upwardly revised 1.3% increase in the previous month.

Industrial production in Estonia fell 3.8% year-on-year in April 2026, after a revised 2.9% drop in the previous month, marking the lowest level since August 2024. Output in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply continued to contract, though the decline eased (-14.9% vs. -19.5% in March), while manufacturing output remained in contraction and deteriorated further (-3.2% vs. -0.9% in March), weighed down by computers and peripheral equipment (-99.0%), coke and refined petroleum products (-27.3%), dairy products (-12.1%), other food products (-11.4%), prepared animal feeds (-16.0%), and food products (-8.0%). In contrast, mining and quarrying stood out, accelerating sharply (14.3% vs. 5.9% in March). On a monthly basis, industrial activity rose by 1.2%, reversing a 2.5% drop in the preceding period.
