Estonia’s trade deficit widened to EUR 426 million in February 2026 from EUR 294 million in the same month last year.
Imports rose 6% year-on-year to EUR 1,877 million, supported by higher purchases from both EU (+5%) and non-EU (+18%) countries.
Among commodities, notable increases were seen in mineral products (+13%), electrical equipment (+17%), and chemical industry raw materials (+6%).
Meanwhile, exports fell 1% to EUR 1,451 million, as higher sales to EU countries (+7%) were offset by sharply lower shipments to non-EU countries (-26%).
Exports rose for electrical equipment (+13%) and metals and metal products (+10%), partially countered by declines in agricultural products and foodstuffs (-8%), wood and wood products (-10%), and mineral products (-29%).
Over the first two months of the year, the country recorded a trade shortfall of EUR 678 million, compared with EUR 644 million in the same period of 2025.
