Danish Jobless Rate Steady for 7th Straight Month

Denmark’s unemployment rate stood at 2.7% in August 2026, unchanged for the seventh consecutive month and remaining at its highest level since September 2021.

The number of unemployed persons increased by 0.3 thousand month-on-month to 82.7 thousand full-time workers.

The unemployment rate for men held steady at 3.0%, while the rate for women remained at 3.1%.

Unemployment rates were also unchanged across most age groups, remaining lowest among those aged 16–24 at 1.6% and highest among those aged 25–29 at 4.9%.

The rate for those aged 60–66 inched up to 3.3% from 3.2% in July.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed persons receiving unemployment benefits rose by 0.3 thousand to 78.8 thousand, while those receiving cash assistance remained steady at 15.1 thousand.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed receiving unemployment benefits rose by 0.2 thousand to 78.4 thousand, while those on cash assistance fell by 0.1 thousand to 15.2 thousand.

The number of unemployed persons rose by 0.4 thousand from the previous month to 82.2 thousand. The unemployment rate for men held steady at 3.0%, while the rate for women remained at 3.1%. Recipients of unemployment benefits increased by 0.5 thousand to 72.3 thousand, while those receiving cash assistance declined by 0.1 thousand to 9.9 thousand. Unemployment rates were unchanged across all age groups, for 16–24 (1.6%), 25–29 (4.9%), 40–49 (2.7%), 50–59 (2.3%), and 60 years and over (3.2%), except for ages 30–39 year old, which edged up to 4.3% from 4.2% in the previous month.
