Danish Manufacturing Output Falls in July

Denmark’s manufacturing production dropped by 5.5% month-over-month in July 2026, slipping from a downwardly revised 6.2% growth in June and marking the steepest decline since January 2025.

Output decreased in ten out of the twelve industry groups, with the largest decline in the transport sector, which sank 21.3%, after a 27.8% surge in June, followed by electronics manufacturing (-13.9% vs 25.6%) and the metal industry (-11.6% vs 11.7%).

Activity also fell in the pharmaceutical industry (-6.2% vs 6.9%), the most important sector, which accounted for 20% of total manufacturing output.

In contrast, production increased in two industrial groups, namely manufacturing of electrical equipment and machinery, rising 0.9% (vs 3.7%) and 0.8% (vs 12.7%), respectively.

On a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing output rose by 4.1% in July, the softest increase in seven months and slowing sharply from an upwardly revised 13.8% gain in the preceding period.

Danish Manufacturing Output Growth at 3-Month High
Denmark’s manufacturing production jumped 6.4% month-on-month in June 2026, rebounding from an upwardly revised 3.5% fall in the previous month. This marked the highest reading in three months, as output recovered in most industries, particularly food, beverages, and tobacco (3.1% vs -1.2% in May), textiles, clothing, and leather (11.7% vs -12.3%), pharmaceutical products (7.3% vs -7.8%), metal and metal products (12.8% vs -8.4%), electronics (25.9% vs -1.7%), electrical equipment (3.4% vs -0.9%), machinery (13.1% vs -7.6%), and transport (26.7% vs -23.7%). On the other hand, production growth slowed in wood, paper, and printing (0.3% vs 1.5%), while activity declined in rubber, plastic, and glass (-1.6% vs 0.0%) and mineral oil and chemicals (-4.4% vs 4.0%). On a seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing activity rose by 9.7% in June, following a downwardly revised 4.7% increase in the preceding period.

Danish Manufacturing Output Slips
Denmark’s manufacturing production fell 3.9% month-on-month in May 2026, following an upwardly revised 1% drop in the previous month. Output declined in textile, clothing, and leather (-11.5% vs 2.1% in April), cement and concrete (-0.8% vs 3.4%), metal and metal products (-7.7% vs 4.8%), electrical equipment (-1.5% vs 2.3%), machinery (-8.2% vs 6.6%), engines, wind turbines, and pumps (-9.1% vs 10.5%), and other machinery (-7.1% vs 2.4%). On the other hand, production recovered in dairies (0.9% vs -2%), bakeries and bread factories (2.7% vs -5.8%), wood, paper, and printing (1.3% vs -2.2%), rubber, plastic, and glass (1.4% vs -0.7%), and furniture (5.5% vs -0.2%). On a seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing activity rose by 6.4% in May, easing from an upwardly revised 13.1% growth in the preceding period.
