Denmark Manufacturing Output Falls in August

Denmark’s manufacturing production decreased by 2.9% month-on-month in August 2025, reversing an upwardly revised 1.4% gain in the previous month.

The sharpest decline was recorded in the pharmaceutical industry (-8.9% vs 3.7%), followed by machinery (-4.8% vs 4.6%), electronic components (-1.7% vs 3.3%), food, beverages, and tobacco (-0.9% vs 1.6%), furniture and other manufacturing (-0.8% vs -0.7%), and textiles and leather (-0.4% vs -1.1%).

In contrast, output rebounded strongly for wood and paper products and printing (12.6% vs -6.1%), basic metals and fabricated metal products (9.7% vs -3.3%), electrical equipment (5.3% vs -0.5%), and transport equipment (4.9% vs -2.2%).

On a non-seasonally adjusted yearly basis, manufacturing output fell by 7% in August, marking the eighth consecutive month of decline, following a downwardly revised 6.3% drop in July.

Denmark’s manufacturing production fell 1.1% month-on-month in April 2026, following a downwardly revised 8.3% growth in the previous month. Output declined in food, beverages, and tobacco (-2.7% vs 5.5% in March), wood and paper products (-2.1% vs 2.1%), pharmaceutical products (-2.5% vs 15%), electronics (-15.8% vs 37%), rubber, plastic, glass, and concrete products (-1% vs 15.5%), and transportation (-2.2% vs 19.5%). At the same time, activity moderated for textile, clothing, and leather products (2.4% vs 9.5%). Meanwhile, production increased for metal and metal products (5% vs 0.4%), while production recovered for petroleum and chemical products (1.3% vs -0.9%). On a seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing activity jumped 13% in April, easing from a revised 21.1% gain in the preceding period.

Danish Manufacturing Output Rebounds in March
Denmark’s manufacturing production climbed by 8.6% month-on-month in March 2026, rebounding from an upwardly revised 4.5% drop in the previous month. This marked the strongest growth in manufacturing activity since late September, largely driven by a 37% surge (vs -14.9% in February) in the output of the electronics industry. Production in the pharmaceutical industry, the most important sector, which accounted for 20% of total manufacturing output, also increased by 15% (vs 8.2%). Other notable improvements came from transport (19.5% vs -11.1%), rubber, plastic, glass and concrete (15.5% vs -5.4%), and textile, clothing and leather (9.7% vs -5.8%). Meanwhile, output in the petroleum and chemical (-0.9% vs -5.7%) and machinery industry (-0.6% vs 4.8%) decreased. On a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing activity rose by 20.7% in March, the fastest increase since October 2024, accelerating from a 6.4% gain in February.

Danish Manufacturing Output Slips
Denmark’s manufacturing production slipped 2% month-on-month in February 2026, reversing an upwardly revised 3.3% increase in January. This marked the first monthly decline since November 2025, as output tumbled for motor vehicles (-12.8% vs 7.8%), electronics (-1.6% vs 5.2%), pharmaceuticals (-4.1% vs 7.4%), and textiles, clothing and leather (-7.6% vs 12.8%). Output also continued to contract in petroleum and chemicals (-5.7% vs -0.8%) and rubber, plastic, glass and concrete (-4.9% vs -4.6%), while growth stalled in food, beverages and tobacco (0% vs 1.1%) and slowed markedly in wood, paper and printing (0.1% vs 6.8%). In contrast, production rebounded in metal and metal products (2.2% vs -8.9%), electrical equipment (2% vs -4.4%), and machinery (6.9% vs -3.4%). On a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing growth eased to 6.8% from 12.4% in January.
