Denmark Inflation Eases to 1.7% in July

The annual inflation rate in Denmark eased to 1.7% in July 2026 from 1.9% in each of the previous two months.

The main downward pressures came from housing and utilities, where prices were unchanged (0% vs 0.5% in June), and a sharper decline in food prices (-1.6% vs -0.9%).

Price growth also softened for leisure, sports and culture (0.8% vs 2.8%), personal care and miscellaneous goods and services (1.5% vs 1.8%), and clothing and footwear (0.9% vs 2.3%).

Meanwhile, transport costs accelerated (5.5% vs 4.5%), mainly driven by higher petrol prices (20.1% vs 15.3%).

Prices for restaurants and hotels also rose more sharply (8.1% vs 5.7%) due to higher holiday home rental costs.

Inflation for information and communication was unchanged at 4.6%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 1.3%, following a 0.2% rise in the previous month.

Core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, remained steady at 2.3% in July.

Denmark Inflation Unchanged in June
The annual inflation rate in Denmark stood at 1.9% in June 2026, unchanged from the previous month and still the highest level since last December. Transportation costs remained the main driver of overall price growth (4.5% vs 5.3% in May), largely due to a surge in diesel prices (22.3% vs 30.8%). Additional upward pressure came from higher prices for clothing and footwear (2.3% vs 0.1%), housing and utilities (0.5% vs 0.4%), information and communication (4.6% vs 4.2%), and restaurants and accommodation services (5.7% vs 4.9%). In contrast, food prices declined further, dropping 0.9% after a 0.3% fall in May, while inflation softened for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.6% vs 1.9%) and recreation, sport and culture (2.8% vs 3.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.2%, slowing from a 0.6% increase in May. Core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, picked up to 2.3% in May, the highest in six months and up from 2.1% in the prior period.

Denmark Inflation Rises to 1.9% in May
The annual inflation rate in Denmark increased to 1.9% in May 2026 from 1.4% in April, marking the highest level since last December. Transportation costs remained the main driver of overall price growth (5.3% vs 3.3% in April), largely due to a surge in petrol prices (20.4% vs 14.6%). Additional upward pressure came from higher prices for housing and utilities (0.4% vs 0%), information and communication (4.2% vs. 4.0%), and recreation, sport and culture (3.5% vs 0.7%), as well as a sharp rebound in prices for restaurants and hotels (4.9% vs -0.9%). In contrast, food prices fell 0.3%, the first drop since March 2024, reversing a 2.7% rise in April. Inflation also eased for personal care and miscellaneous goods and services (1.9% vs 2.1%) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.9% vs 3.8%). Monthly, the CPI rose 0.6%, following a 0.2% increase in April. Core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, picked up to 2.1% in May from a thirteen-month low of 1.6% in April.
