Danish Trade Surplus Widens in April

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted trade surplus widened to DKK 32.8 billion in April 2026 from a downwardly revised DKK 31.4 billion in March. Exports edged up 0.4% month-over-month to DKK 188.9 billion, led by a 3.3% rise in services exports more than offset a 1.5% decline in goods exports. Meanwhile, imports fell 0.4% to DKK 156.1 billion, reflecting a 1.7% drop in goods imports despite a 1.0% rise in services imports. For the first four months of 2026, Denmark recorded a trade surplus of DKK 114.9 billion, up from DKK 100.1 billion over the same period in the previous year.

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted trade surplus widened to DKK 33.8 billion in March 2026 from an upwardly revised DKK 25.2 billion in the previous month. Exports increased 8.1% month-on-month to DKK 189.6 billion, reflecting increases in both goods (8.5%) and services (7.5%). Meanwhile, imports rose at a slower 3.7% pace to DKK 155.7 billion, supported by higher purchases of goods (4.3%) and services (3.0%). For the first quarter of 2026, total exports fell 0.9%, while imports stood at 0%.

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted trade surplus narrowed to DKK 22.2 billion in February 2026 from a downwardly revised DKK 29.4 billion in the previous month, marking the lowest surplus since May 2025. Exports declined 3.7% month-on-month to DKK 167.9 billion, reflecting contractions in both goods (-3.1%) and services (-4.6%). Total exports of goods and services to the US stood at DKK 25 billion, down DKK 0.7 billion from January. Exports of goods decreased by DKK 1 billion to DKK 17 billion, while services exports rose by DKK 0.3 billion to DKK 8 billion. Meanwhile, imports edged up 0.5% to DKK 145.7 billion, supported by higher imports in services (2.2%), even as goods imports declined (-1%). Over the past three months, exports fell 2.6%, while imports decreased 1.1%.
