Czech GDP Growth Expands in Q3

The Czech Republic’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.7% quarter-on-quarter in the third quarter of 2025, surpassing market expectations of a 0.3% gain, following a 0.5% expansion recorded in the previous quarter, according to preliminary estimates.

Foreign demand contributed positively to the quarterly expansion.

On a year-to-year basis, the GDP rose by 2.7% in Q3.

"The year-on-year GDP growth of 2.7% was supported mainly by household final consumption expenditure and gross capital formation.” said Vladimír Kermiet, Director at the Czech Statistical Office.

The gross value added increased in both quarterly and annual terms in sectors such as construction and the trade, transport, accommodation, and catering.

The Czech Republic’s gross domestic product advanced 0.7% quarter-on-quarter in the three months to December 2025, following a 0.8% expansion in the previous period and coming in slightly above second estimates. Net trade contributed positively, as exports rose 0.8% (vs 0.9% in Q3), outpacing imports, which grew 0.6% (vs 0.2%). Household consumption also provided support, accelerating by 1.2% from 0.3%. Meanwhile, government spending was flat after a 0.7% increase, while fixed investment declined 0.1%, reversing a 0.1% rise in the previous quarter. On a yearly basis, GDP expanded 2.7% in Q4, slightly above earlier estimates but easing from 2.8% in the prior quarter. For the full year 2025, GDP increased 2.6%.

Czech GDP Grows 0.6% in Q4 2025
The Czech Republic’s gross domestic product grew by 0.6% quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of 2025, easing from a 0.8% expansion in Q3 but exceeding preliminary estimates of a 0.5% growth, second estimates showed. Growth was primarily driven by domestic demand, with household consumption accelerating to 1.3% from 0.3%, government spending rising to 1.0% from 0.7%, and gross fixed capital formation strengthening to 1.7% from 1.0%. Meanwhile, net trade weighed on overall GDP growth, as exports edged down 0.8% after expanding 0.9% in Q3, while import growth increased to 0.6% from 0.2%. On a yearly basis, the economy rose by 2.6%, easing from a 2.8% gain but exceeding preliminary estimates of 2.4%. For the full year, the GDP expanded by 2.6%.

The Czech Republic’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.5% quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of 2025, slightly below market expectations of a 0.6% increase and slowing from a 0.8% expansion in the previous quarter, according to preliminary estimates. The growth was mainly supported by stronger final consumption expenditure, while the foreign trade balance also made a positive contribution. On a yearly basis, the Czech economy expanded by 2.4% in Q4 2025, moderating from an over three-year high of 2.8% in the preceding quarter. The annual expansion was underpinned by strong household consumption and solid external demand. Value added gains were led by activities in trade, transportation, accommodation and food services, industry, and construction. Considering the full year of 2025, the economy advanced by 2.5% over a year ago.
