Croatia’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 1.34 billion in August 2026 from EUR 1.52 billion a year earlier.
This marked the smallest trade gap since February, as exports rose while imports fell.
Exports climbed by 8.5% year-on-year to a seven-month low of EUR 1.87 billion, while imports declined by 1.1% to EUR 3.21 billion, also reaching a seven-month low.
In the first eight months of 2026, the trade deficit narrowed to EUR 13.31 billion from EUR 13.66 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
During this period, exports grew by 9.5% to EUR 17.85 billion, supported by stronger shipments to both EU countries (12.5%) and non-EU markets (3.4%).
Meanwhile, imports increased by 3.9% to EUR 31.15 billion, driven largely by higher purchases from both the EU (2.8%) and non-EU markets (7.9%).
