Croatia Trade Deficit Widens in July

Croatia’s trade deficit widened to EUR 1.8 billion in July 2026 from EUR 1.7 billion in the same month a year earlier. Exports increased 2.8% year-on-year to EUR 2.3 billion, while imports rose 4.5% to EUR 4.1 billion. During January-July, exports grew 9.8% to EUR 16.0 billion, supported by higher shipments to both EU (12.6%) and non-EU countries (4.1%). Meanwhile, imports rose 6.9% to EUR 28.6 billion, driven by stronger purchases from both the EU (5.6%) and non-EU countries (11.7%). Over the same period, the trade gap widened slightly to EUR 12.6 billion from EUR 12.1 billion.

Croatia’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 1.71 billion in June 2026 from EUR 1.81 billion a year earlier. Exports rose by 7.7% year-on-year to EUR 2.26 billion, while imports increased by 1.9% to EUR 3.98 billion. In the first half of 2026, the trade gap decreased to EUR 10.31 billion from EUR 10.42 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. During this period, exports grew by 10.8% to EUR 13.70 billion, lifted by stronger shipments to both EU countries (14.1%) and non-EU markets (3.9%). Meanwhile, imports increased by 4.8% to EUR 23.89 billion, driven largely by higher purchases from both the EU (3.8%) and non-EU markets (8.4%).

Croatia’s trade deficit widened slightly to EUR 1.70 billion in the month from EUR 1.67 billion a year earlier. Exports climbed 13.6% year-on-year to EUR 2.3 billion, while imports increased 5.2% to EUR 3.9 billion. In the first five months of the year, the trade gap narrowed to EUR 8.5 billion from EUR 8.6 billion in the corresponding period of 2025. During this period, exports rose 11.4% to EUR 11.4 billion, driven by stronger shipments to both EU countries (14.9%) and non-EU markets (4.1%). Meanwhile, imports grew 5.4% to EUR 19.9 billion, reflecting higher purchases from both the EU (2.7%) and non-EU markets (14.8%).
