The Davivienda Colombia Manufacturing PMI rose to 53.8 in January 2025 from 49.9 in December, signaling a strong rebound in manufacturing conditions, the highest level in a year.
This growth was driven by the fastest expansion in new orders since January 2024, with firms reporting better underlying demand, greater clientele, and the participation of fairs as key drivers.
Output volumes increased at a stronger-than-average pace.
Softer cost inflation and lower factory gate charges supported demand, boosting sales and production.
Input cost pressures eased, with improved raw material availability.
Employment surged, marking the fastest job creation in over two and a half years, though most positions were temporary.
Manufacturers increased inventories in anticipation of strong demand, with input buying growing at its fastest pace in a year.
Optimism for the year ahead rose, with 57% of firms expecting higher output, driven by advertising, diversification, and investment.
