Colombia Inflation Rise to 4-Month High in August

Colombia’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 5.1% in August 2025, up from 4.9% in July and broadly in line with market expectations of 5.11%.
The main upward pressure came from higher prices in food (+6.13% vs. +4.94%), health (+5.67% vs. +5.36%), restaurants and hotels (+7.78% vs. +7.59%), and education (+7.87% vs. +7.56%).
In contrast, housing costs rose at a much slower pace (+1.46% vs. +4.95%), while transportation inflation eased slightly (+5.19% vs. +5.36%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.19% in August, almost matching the 0.20% forecast but slowing from July’s 0.28% rise.
