Bulgaria’s current account shifted to a deficit of EUR 488.3 million in June 2026 from a surplus of EUR 199.8 million in the same month a year earlier.

The deterioration was driven by a wider goods deficit of EUR 806.1 million, compared with EUR 490.3 million a year earlier, alongside a narrower services surplus of EUR 662.3 million versus EUR 1,061.7 million, reflecting weaker manufacturing and transportation services.

As a result, the combined goods and services balance swung to a deficit of EUR 143.7 million from a surplus of EUR 571.4 million.

Meanwhile, the primary income deficit narrowed slightly to EUR 454.5 million from EUR 456.1 million, while the secondary income surplus increased to EUR 109.9 million from EUR 84.5 million.
