There was a decrease in trips of holiday & recreation (-6.2 percent) while and increase was seen in trips of professional (1.7 percent) and other purpose including guest and passing transit (0.4 percent). The number of visitors from the EU fell 5.2 percent and accounted to 60.1 percent of the total. Tourist arrivals decreased from Czech Republic (-13.9 percent), Germany (-12.9 percent), Poland (-11.6 percent) and Greece (-7.6 percent). In contrast, main increases were seen from United Kingdom (21.0 percent), Ireland (19.1 percent), Hungary (6.5 percent), Romania (6.1 percent), Spain (3.5 percent) and France (1.6 percent). Tourist Arrivals in Bulgaria averaged 855880.21 from 1991 until 2019, reaching an all time high of 3531567 in December of 2003 and a record low of 237256 in January of 2007.
