Bulgaria Construction Output Growth Accelerates

Construction output in Bulgaria increased 8.0% year-on-year in February 2026, accelerating from a downwardly revised 2.8% rise in the previous month.

Significant increases were recoded in both building construction (16.8% vs 7.7% in January) and civil engineering works (7.7% vs 1.4%).

Specialized construction activities continued to decline, albeit at a softer pace (-1.2% vs -1.6%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output rose 3.1%, recovering from an upwardly revised 1.8% drop in January.

Growth picked up in building construction (3.9% vs 1.4%) and output rebounded in civil engineering (3.3% vs -1.6%) and specialized construction (1.9% vs -5.5%).

Construction output in Bulgaria rose 4% year-on-year in January 2026, slowing from an upwardly revised 8.9% in the previous month. Growth moderated across the construction of buildings (6.6% vs 12.6% in December 2025), civil engineering (1.8% vs 7.9%), and specialized construction activities (2.9% vs 5.7%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output fell 1.2%, reversing from an upwardly revised 2.7% growth in December, driven by declines in the construction of buildings (-0.6% vs 3.5%), civil engineering (-1.8% vs -0.2%), and specialized construction activities (-1.4% vs 4.1%).

Bulgaria Construction Growth Weakest in Nearly 2 Years
Construction output in Bulgaria rose 0.6% year-on-year in December 2025, slowing from a downwardly revised 3% increase in the previous month. This marked the weakest growth since February 2024, as activity expanded at a softer pace in civil engineering works (3.5% vs 8% in November), while specialized construction activities contracted sharply (-3.9% vs -0.4%). In contrast, building construction grew slightly faster (2.6% vs 2.5%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, construction output fell 2.3%, reversing a 0.8% rise in November. The decline was driven by lower output in specialized construction activities (-3.9%), civil engineering works (-2.9%), and building construction (-0.4%).
