Wholesale prices in Austria rose 8.2% year-on-year in August 2026 from 6.9% in the previous month.
This marked the highest reading since February 2023, driven by gains in other liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (52.3%), motor spirit (33.6%), plastics and rubber in primary forms (23.9%), and waste and scrap (23.4%).
Notable price increases were also recorded in non-iron metals (19.6%), information and communication equipment (17.4%), other machinery and equipment (17.4%), solid fuels (13.1%), and iron and steel (10.0%).
In contrast, prices fell in live animals (-11.9%), dairy products, eggs and edible oils and fats (-1.4%), radio, television, recording and reproduction equipment (-1.3%), and fruits and vegetables (-1.1%).
On a monthly basis, wholesale prices rose to 0.9% in August from 0.8% in July, mainly due to higher prices for other liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (7.4%) and grain, seeds and animal feeds (4.7%).
