Austria Unemployment Rate Hits 11-Month High

Austria’s unemployment rate rose to 8.4% in December 2025 from 8.2% in the same month a year earlier, recording the highest level since January.
The total number of unemployed persons grew by 10,133 year-on-year, reaching an eleven-month high of 363,006, while compared with November, the number of unemployed also climbed by 42,655.
By gender, the female jobless rate increased by 0.4 percentage points to 7.2% from December 2024, while the male unemployment rate edged up by 0.1 percentage points, reaching 9.6%.
In addition, around 434,572 people were registered as unemployed or participating in training in December.
