Austria Industrial Output Rises in March

Industrial production in Austria rose 1.7% year-on-year in March 2026, accelerating from a revised 0.0% reading in the previous month.

The increase was driven mainly by stronger growth in the industrial sector (2.8% vs 1.0% in February), while construction output continued to decline, though at a slower pace (-3.0% vs -4.9%).

Among the main industrial groupings, output increased notably for capital goods (9.4% vs 3.5%) and intermediate goods (1.2% vs 0.5%).

Consumer durable goods production remained strong, although growth slowed slightly (15.8% vs 21.1%).

Meanwhile, the decline in consumer non-durable goods eased (-2.3% vs -3.7%), while energy output turned negative (-7.2% vs 1.6%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output grew 1.5% in March.

Industrial production in Austria rose by 1.1% year-on-year in February 2026, accelerating from a 0.3% increase in the previous month. This marked the third consecutive month of growth in industrial activity, driven largely by continued expansion in the industrial sector, though at a slightly slower pace (1.3% vs 1.8% in January). At the same time, the decline in construction activity eased significantly, with output falling just 0.1% after a sharp 7.6% decrease in the prior month. Within main industrial groupings, production increased notably for consumer durable goods (16.2% vs 23.1%), energy (8.3% vs -0.6%), and intermediate goods (0.9% vs 2.1%). Meanwhile, output contracted for capital goods (-0.3% vs 1.8%) and consumer non-durable goods (-3.9% vs 1.8%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output grew by 0.1% in February, slowing from a 0.6% gain in the preceding period.

Industrial production in Austria rose 0.3% year-on-year in January 2026, easing from a revised 1.1% increase in the previous month. The slowdown was mainly driven by a smaller rise in industrial activity (1.8% vs 3.2% in December 2025) and a deeper decline in construction output (-7.6% vs -5.4%). Within main industrial groupings, growth moderated in intermediate goods (2.1% vs 3.8%), capital goods (1.8% vs 8.8%), and consumer durables (23.1% vs 28.9%). Meanwhile, production for consumer non durables continued to increase (1.8% vs 1.1%). Activity in energy also fell at a softer pace (-0.6% vs -8.3%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose 0.6% in January.
