Austria Industrial Output Falls in September

Industrial production in Austria fell 1.7% year-on-year in September 2025, after a 0.8% increase in August.

Output fell in industry (-1.3%) and construction (-3.1%).

Across the main industrial groupings, production fell for energy (-8%), consumer durables (-8.6%), non-durables (-2.1%) and capital goods (-5.1%).

On the other hand, production rose for intermediate goods (5.8%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production went down 0.9%.

Industrial production in Austria fell by 0.3% year-on-year in November 2025, reversing a downwardly revised 2.3% increase in the previous month. Output growth slowed in the industrial sector (1.2% vs 4.1% in October) and construction activity declined further (-4.9% vs -3.1%). Within industrial groupings, production decreased for energy (-8.1% vs -1.5%) and capital goods (-2.2% vs 5.7%), while output increased at a slower pace for intermediate goods (3.5% vs 5.2%). On the other hand, activity accelerated for consumer durables (11.4% vs 1.6%) and non-durables (6.1% vs 3.4%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production dropped by 1% in November, slipping from an upwardly revised 0.3% gain in the preceding period.

Austria Industrial Output Rebounds in October
Industrial production in Austria rose 3.3% year-on-year in October 2025, marking the fastest growth since February 2023 and rebounding from a 1.7% decline in September. The rebound was primarily driven by a notable pick-up in industrial activity (5.0% vs -1.3% in September), alongside a slower decline in construction output (-2.0% vs -3.1%). By segment, production jumped for capital goods (8.9% vs -5.1%) and consumer non-durables (4.9% vs -2.1%), while intermediate goods output grew at a faster pace (7.7% vs 5.8%). Output declines moderated for energy (-7.4% vs -8.0%) and consumer durables (-5.2% vs -8.6%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose 0.8% in October, recovering from a 0.9% drop in September.
