The Swiss procure.ch and UBS PMI fell to 48.8 in July 2025 from 49.6 in the previous month, worse than market expectations of 49.9.
This marked the 31st consecutive month in negative territory, primarily due to declines in production (down 0.1 points to 49.6), order backlogs (down 6.5 points to 43.9), and purchasing volumes (down 1.1 points to 43.0).
On the other hand, some components showed increases, including purchasing prices (up 3.6 points to 50.7), delivery times (up 2.8 points to 59.2), stocks purchased (up 5.4 points to 45.4), sales stocks (up 6 points to 48.7), and employment (up 1.2 points to 48.9).
Meanwhile, nearly half of manufacturing firms expect a rise in protectionist trade policies over the next year, while about one-third have already experienced an increase in such measures over the past twelve months, according to procure.ch and UBS.
