The yield on the 10-year Swiss government bond fell further to below 0.15%, a fresh low since January 2022, amid concerns over the domestic economic outlook and persistent global uncertainties.
In its latest October projections, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) maintained its 2025 GDP growth forecast at a below-average 1.3%, amid the anticipated slowdown in the second half of the year.
Turning to 2026, the growth estimate was cut to 0.9% from 1.2% in June, signaling rising challenges from US tariffs and the strong franc.
The entity also expects inflation to remain subdued at 0.2% in 2025 and 0.5% in 2026, cementing expectations of a cautious approach to monetary policy by the Swiss National Bank.
Elsewhere, persistent US-China frictions, rising worries about the US financial system, and the extended government shutdown are creating unease among investors worldwide.
