Switzerland’s KOF Economic Barometer rose 3.3 points to 101.3 in October 2025, its highest level since March 2025 and well above market expectations of 98.3, signaling an improving economic outlook.
Most of the indicator bundles point to positive developments, particularly in manufacturing, financial and insurance services, and other services, while indicators for private consumption showed a slight setback.
In the producing industries (manufacturing and construction), sub-indicators for various aspects of business activity largely signal optimism.
Stockpiling of intermediate goods and stocks of finished products show a particularly brightening outlook, although sub-indicators for the competitive situation are weakening.
Within manufacturing, developments are mixed.
Electrical, metal, and wood/glass/stone/earth segments show positive momentum, while paper and printing, chemical and pharmaceutical, and food and beverage industries exhibit a softer outlook.
