Producer prices in Sri Lanka fell 0.5% year-on-year in September 2025, the same pace as the upwardly revised figure for August.

This marks the third consecutive month of producer deflation, driven by a sharper decline in prices for agricultural products (-6% vs. -1.6% in August), mainly due to lower costs of perennial and non-perennial crops and animal production.

Price growth also eased for manufacturing (0.2% vs. 0.5%), as ongoing deflation in beverages, textiles, and coke and refined petroleum products capped faster gains in food products.

Meanwhile, costs for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply rebounded by 1.7%, following a 5.1% drop in the previous period.

On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 0.7%, the largest decline in four months, after a 0.6% gain in August.
