Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Rise 8.7% in December

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia jumped 8.7% year-on-year to 0.376 million in December 2025, rebounding from a nine-month low of a 3.1% decline in the previous month.

The number of foreign arrivals advanced by 12.9% to 264,940, while domestic arrivals decreased by 0.3% to 111,437.

Most foreign visitors came from Hungary (+27%), Germany (+24.8%), Italy (+16.2%), Austria (+10.8%), and Croatia (+4.7%).

Meanwhile, overnight stays rose by 5.8% to 0.877 million, led by stays in health (spa) resorts (27%), mountain resorts (23%), Ljubljana (22%), and the seaside resorts (12%).

Considering the whole year, tourists generated 6.993 million arrivals (6.2% more than the same period last year) and 17.843 million overnight stays (5.9% more than last year).

Foreign tourists generated 75% of all overnight stays, most of which come from Germany.

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia rose by 7.9% year-on-year to 0.317 million in January 2025, following an 8.7% jump in the previous month. The number of foreign arrivals advanced 9.5% to 218,099, while domestic arrivals increased by 4.4% to 99,176. Most foreign visitors came from Croatia (+26.3%), Hungary (+13.2%), and Italy (+2.2%). Meanwhile, overnight stays surged by 10.9% to 0.870 million, led by stays in Ljubljana (+16%), mountain resorts (+14%), and health spas (14%). Foreign tourists accounted for the majority of overnight stays in the capital, representing 93% of all stays in January.

Tourist Arrivals in Slovenia Fall in November
Tourist arrivals in Slovenia fell by 3.1% year-on-year to 0.301 million in November 2025, the lowest since February, after a 8.8% rise in October. The number of foreign arrivals went down 3.1% to 196,077, and domestic arrivals declined 3.2% to 105,663. There was a decline in foreign visitors from Croatia (-4.4%), Italy (-23%), Austria (-10.8%) and Serbia (-2.6%) but those from Germany increased 17%. Meanwhile, overnight stays also declined 3.1% to 0.73 million, with the average length of stay at 2.4 nights. Considering January to November, tourists generated 6.617 million arrivals (6.1% more than the same period last year) and 16.96 million overnight stays (5.9% more than last year). Foreign tourists generated 75% of all overnight stays, with most coming from Germany.
