Slovenia Producer Inflation Hits Over 3-Year High

Slovenia’s producer prices rose 3.5% year-on-year in August 2026, up from 3.4% in the previous month and marking the highest level since July 2023.

Prices increased for manufacturing (3.7% vs 3.5% in July), particularly for textiles, wearing apparel, paper and paper products, coke and refined petroleum products, chemicals and chemical products, and basic metals.

Price growth also accelerated for mining and quarrying (8.4% vs 7.4%).

In contrast, prices moderated for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (1.9% vs 2.1%), while deflation in water supply remained unchanged at 4.0%.

Among the main industrial groups, prices rose for energy (2.6% vs 2.0%), and intermediate goods (5.8% vs 5.1%).

Meanwhile, costs eased for capital goods (2.4% vs 2.8%), and consumer goods (1.0% vs 1.4%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 0.3% in August, easing from 0.7% in July and marking the lowest reading since March.

The pickup was driven by faster price growth in manufacturing (3.5% vs 2.5% in June), mining and quarrying (7.4% vs 7.0%), and other mining and quarrying (6.1% vs 4.9%). Meanwhile, inflation was unchanged in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (2.1%), while water supply prices remained in deflation (-4.0%). Among the main industrial groups, price growth accelerated for intermediate goods (5.1% vs 3.2% in June), energy (2.0% vs 1.3%), and capital goods (2.8% vs 1.4%), while consumer goods inflation slowed to 1.4% from 2.1%.

Slovenia’s producer prices advanced 2.4% year-on-year in June 2026, following a 2.1% increase in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since July 2023, driven by faster cost growth in manufacturing (2.5% vs 2.2% in May) and electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (2.1% vs 0.1%). On the other hand, prices moderated in mining and quarrying (7.0% vs 12.7%). Among the main industrial groups, costs accelerated for intermediate goods (3.2% vs 2.3%) and consumer goods (2.1% vs 1.9%), while easing for capital goods (1.4% vs 2.0%) and energy (1.3% vs 2.3%). On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 0.5%, easing slightly from 0.7% in May.
