Slovenia Inflation Rate Eases to 4-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Slovenia slowed to 2.5% in March 2026 from a four-month high of 2.9% in the previous month, marking the lowest reading since November 2025.

The slowdown occurred despite surging oil prices due to supply disruptions amidst the Middle East conflict.

Slovenia has temporarily limited fuel purchases at gas stations nationwide and reduced fuel duties to mitigate rising petroleum costs over the next 14 days.

Prices moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.6% vs 3.6% in February), housing and utilities (5.8% vs 10.7%), information and communication (2% vs 2.1%), health (4% vs 6.1%), and personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (1.6% vs 0.9%).

Moreover, deflation softened for transport (-1.1% vs -2.3%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices eased to 0.2% from 0.6% in February.

Meanwhile, annual harmonized consumer prices rose 2.4% from 2.8% in the previous month.

This marked the highest reading since October 2025, as prices increased at a faster pace for housing and utilities (10.7% vs 4.6% in January), information and communication (2.1% vs 1.9%), restaurants and accommodation services (2.6% vs 2.3%), and insurance and financial services (6.4% vs 2.9%). In contrast, costs moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.6% vs 4.2%), clothing and footwear (0.5% vs 2.6%), health (6.1% vs 6.3%), recreation, sport, and culture (0.5% vs 2.6%), education (3.8% vs 3.9%), and personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (0.9% vs 1.3%). Moreover, deflation worsened for transport (-2.3% vs -2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.6%, rebounding from a 0.5% fall in January. Meanwhile, the harmonized CPI rose by 2.8% year-on-year in February 2026, accelerating from 2.4% in the previous month.

Slovenia Inflation Eases Slightly in January
The annual inflation rate in Slovenia edged down to 2.6% in January 2026 from 2.7% in the previous month. Prices increase at a softer pace mainly for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.2% vs 4.5% in December), education (3.9% vs 4.2%), restaurants and hotels (2.3% vs 4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (1.3% vs 2.6%). At the same time, costs continued to decline for transport (-2% vs -0.7%). In contrast, inflation increased further for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.5% vs 4.3%), clothing and footwear (2.6% vs 1.1%), and housing and utilities (4.6% vs 4.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.5% in January, after showing no growth in the preceding period. The harmonized CPI rose by 2.4% year-on-year, following a 2.6% gain in December. On average, Slovenia’s inflation rate for 2025 stood at 2.4%.
