Slovakia Inflation Rate Ticks Down in August

Slovakia's annual inflation rate edged down to 4.2% in August 2025 from July’s nineteen-month high of 4.4%, but matching market expectations.
Price growth slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.9% vs 4.4% in July), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.1% vs 6.7%), furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (3.1% vs 3.2%), recreation and culture (4.8% vs 4.9%), restaurants and hotels (9.3% vs 9.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (6.0% vs 6.3%).
In contrast, costs increased for health (2.4% vs 1.9%), transport (2.1% vs 1.5%), and communication (4.4% vs 4.3%).
Meanwhile, prices remained the same for clothing and footwear (3.6%) and education (10%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1% in August, in line with forecasts but easing from a 0.3% increase in the previous month.
