Serbia Building Permits Increases

The number of building permits issued in Serbia increased 4.6% year-on-year to 2,329 in May 2026, accelerating slightly from a 4.3% rise in April.
Buildings accounted for 81.9% of all permits issued, with 81.6% of these intended for residential construction and 18.4% for non-residential buildings.
The remaining 18.1% of permits were for civil engineering projects, the majority of which (77.2%) were related to pipelines, communication networks, and electrical lines.
A total of 3,554 dwellings were authorized for construction.
Of these, 11.4% will be built in single-dwelling buildings, while 87.0% will be constructed in buildings with three or more dwellings.
By region, the highest share of planned construction was recorded in the Belgrade region (27.4%) and Zajecar (20.6%).
