Russia GDP Grows 0.4% YoY in August

Russia's GDP expanded by 0.4% year-on-year in August 2025, matching the pace seen in the previous month, the Economic Development Ministry said in a report on the current economic situation.

Growth was mainly driven by increases in manufacturing output (2.4% vs 1.5% in July), agriculture (6.1% vs -0.4%), and retail trade (2.8% vs 2.0%).

Meanwhile, construction output edged up by just 0.1% (vs 3.3% previously), and industrial production rose 0.5%, following a 0.7% increase in July.

For the first eight months of the year, the economy grew 1.0% year-on-year.

On a monthly basis, economic activity showed no growth.

Russia's GDP advanced by 0.9% year-on-year in September 2025, after a 0.4% expansion in the previous two months, the Economic Development Ministry said in a report on the current economic situation. Growth was mainly driven by increases in construction (0.2% vs 0.1% in August), manufacturing output (0.4% vs 2.4% in August), and agriculture (4.2% vs 6.1%). Meanwhile, industrial production rose 0.3%, following a 0.5% increase in August. Russia's January–September GDP was up 1.0% yoy, unchanged from the first eight months of the year, while in the third quarter, GDP grew by 0.6%, easing from 1.1% in the second quarter. In September, the ministry lowered its 2025 GDP growth forecast to 1% from the 2.5% projected in April. It also cut the 2026 forecast to 1.3% from 2.4%.
