Romania Jobless Rate at 5-Month Low

Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate eased to 6.4% in July 2026 from an upwardly revised 6.8% in the previous month, marking its lowest level since February.
The number of unemployed people decreased by 28.7 thousand month-on-month and increased 42 thousand year-on-year.
By gender, the unemployment rate for men fell to 6.2% from 6.6% in June, while the rate for women declined to 6.7% from 7.1%.
Among individuals aged 25 to 74, who accounted for 76.4% of total unemployed people, the unemployment rate edged down to 5.2% from 5.3% in June.
Compared with the same month a year earlier, however, the overall unemployment rate remained higher than the 5.9% recorded in July 2025.
