Romania Producer Inflation Eases to 8-Month Low

Romania’s producer inflation rose by 3% year-on-year in February 2026, easing from a downwardly revised 7.72% increase in the previous month.

This marked the lowest reading in eight months, as price growth slowed sharply for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (1.16% vs 19.38% in January), while costs fell further for mining and quarrying (-1.8% vs -0.31%).

On the other hand, prices rose for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (14.28% vs 12.98%) and manufacturing (3.77% vs 3.75), lifted by price increases in food products (+3.39%), beverages (+5.25%), tobacco products (+5.69%), and wearing apparel (+7.88%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 1.09% in February, following a 2.15% gain in the preceding period.

Romania’s annual producer inflation climbed 7.81% year-on-year in January 2026 from a downwardly revised 5.81% increase in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since October, as prices accelerated for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (19.38% vs 10.32% in December 2025) and water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (12.98% vs 11.32%). Meanwhile, inflation eased in the manufacturing sector (3.75% vs 4.43%), while prices fell in mining and quarrying (-0.31% vs 1.43%). On a monthly basis, producer prices rose by 2.15% in January 2026 from 0.35% in the preceding period.

Romania Producer Inflation Climbs in December
Romania’s annual producer inflation climbs 6% year-on-year in December 2025 from a downwardly revised 4.71% in the previous month. Price accelerated for manufacturing (4.43% vs 4.07% in November), mining and quarrying (1.43% vs 0.83%), and electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (10.32% vs 6.66%). Meanwhile, costs for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities held steady at 11.32%. On a monthly basis, producer prices edged up by 0.35% in December from 0.30% in the preceding period.
